Network Support Specialist - Wang's Intl, Inc., Feb. 1996 - May 1998

When I started I had to work with one Novell 4.1 server, a Novell 3.12, a Novell 3.11 server, and Novell 2.1 server. By the time I left we had two NT 3.51 servers, one NT 4 server, one Novell 3.12 server, one Telefinder server and one Linux firewall. One NT server was a mail server running SMTP and POP server. I maintained a Ms-Mail system to had schedule plus and later Outlook. I handled 150 users with 20 Mac users and 30 remote users. I handled the WAN link to California and the local links to stores in town. The NT network was TCP/IP based with Windows for Workgroup, Windows 95, and NT workstation clients. I implemented software standardization and I developed a Windows for Workgroups Xcopy image install and later a PQ-Image Windows 95 image install. I designed a new network based on a 3Com corebuilder 5000 ATM switch with 100-fx connections to 3Com 10tx switches connected to the desktops running 3com 10/100 Ethernet cards. When the NT servers where installed the servers had a 130 gig total capacity with room to grow. I developed Filemaker pro 4 databases for the Sales department. I worked with laptop users to backup there files when they where attached to the network using freeware and dos batch commands. Backups of the NT and Novell servers were handled by a DLT changer and Backup Exec that I installed and Maintained. I setup sharing of HP-UX NFS files over an NT server with gateway software. I made CD-Rs for offsite installs of updated software. I developed a Web database for handling Helpdesk trouble tickets and a web based phone directory. With an extra machine I installed a linux server to handle windows 95 PPP clients through an HP-MPE mainframe12 modem dialup system.
